Schedule Changes & Playoffs

7 Jun 2021 by Dan Betzing

Good Evening Parents and Players! As you know, we are currently behind schedule with our season due to a few rainy days. With the weather getting hotter, finishing the season on time is extremely important to us so that we can ensure the safety of everyone involved. That being said, we have made a few necessary changes to the schedule to allow us to finish the season on 26 June as planned.

If you look at the schedule, you will see that the week 9 games have become mid-week games. These are first round of the playoffs and will determine who gets to play in the championship on Saturday, June 26th. The 10U league will play Monday, June 21st at 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM. The 11+ league will play Tuesday, June 22nd at 7:00PM and at 7:30PM. In an attempt to minimize heat exposure, there will be no practices before the playoff games. For both leagues, 1st place will play 4th place and 2nd place will play 3rd place. In the event that two teams are tied for the same spot in the standings, the Points For (PF) stat will be used as the tie breaker to determine seeding. Please keep at close eye on the schedule after week 8, as your game times could change based on where your teams finishes in the standings.

The championship games and the 3rd place games will be played on Saturday, 26 June. These games are not currently on the schedule because they depend on who wins each game. Game times will be 8:30AM for 10U 3rd place, 9:00AM for 10U championship, 9:30AM for 11+ 3rd place and 10:00 AM for 11+ championship.

Immediately following the conclusion of each game, there will be an awards presentation and a team photo taken that will be used in the team photobooks that we are constructing. These books will be available for purchase and details will be forthcoming in the next few days concerning price, timeline and the other pertinent details.

I understand that this might be an inconvenience and for that, I apologize. The unfortunate reality is that the season end bumps up against the 4th of July holiday. Extending the season past that is not something we think is in anyones best interest. This mid week game is the best solution to ensuring everyone has a safe and successful conclusion to the FRYH inaugural season. Thank you again for your trust, patience and good nature in supporting this wild ride we’ve been on. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at the rink to wrap this thing up!
